Abuja, May 1, 2026 — The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Nigeria has extended a strong message of solidarity to its management and staff, reaffirming its commitment to workers’ welfare, productivity, and national development as Nigeria marks this year’s Workers’ Day.
In a statement made available to News Dot Africa in Abuja, the Honourable Minister, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, praised the dedication and resilience of the ministry’s workforce, describing them as the “engine” driving programmes that promote inclusion, strengthen families, and deliver critical social protection services.
She noted that the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises people-centred policies, productivity, and shared prosperity.
According to the minister, the ministry remains central to achieving these national goals through targeted interventions and institutional reforms.
Highlighting ongoing initiatives, Sulaiman-Ibrahim pointed to the Renewed Hope Social Impact Intervention (RHSII-774), a flagship programme designed to expand empowerment opportunities and deepen community engagement across all 774 local government areas in the country. She emphasised that the initiative is positioning ministry staff at the forefront of measurable national transformation.
Minister Sulaiman- Ibrahim also underscored that staff welfare remains a core priority, assuring workers of continued efforts to enhance capacity development, improve working conditions, and build a more responsive support system within the ministry and its agencies, including the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development.
Describing the declaration of 2026 as the “Year of Families and Social Development” as both a responsibility and an opportunity, she said it would open new pathways for programme expansion, stronger partnerships, and greater institutional impact.
She urged staff to remain focused, disciplined, and united in delivering the ministry’s mandate, stressing that their work continues to translate government policies into tangible benefits for citizens.
“Your resilience, professionalism, and unwavering dedication give life to hope,” the minister said, expressing confidence that the ministry would sustain progress and contribute meaningfully to national development.
She concluded by wishing all staff a fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration.
