Paul Biya Withdraws Tribunal Cases Against Militants in Southwest and Northwest Cameroon

The President of the Republic of Cameroon His Excellency Paul Biya, has ordered the withdrawal of tribunal cases against Militants in the Northeast and Southeast of Cameroon.
This was contained in a memo sighted by the News Dot Africa correspondent and signed by the Minister, Secretary – General of the Presidency, of the Republic of  Cameroon, Mr Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh.
According to the memo, “The Minister hereby informs the national and international community that the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, has today ordered the discontinuance of proceedings pending before military tribunals against a number of people arrested for misdemeanors, in connection with the crisis in the North-West and South-West Regions.
This decision concerns a total of 289 detainees and will be implemented by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence.
Coming on the hills of the establishment of the National Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Committee (NDDRC), the Head of State’ s decision is guided by his resolve to give our young compatriots in the two regions who wish to renounce violence and return to the right path, the opportunity to once more participate in the lofty task of nation building.”
Mr Ngoh noted that the Head of State reaffirmed his determination to relentlessly pursue his efforts to explore ways and means of ensuing a peaceful solution to the crisis affecting the regions of the country.
Recall that the said regions have witnessed violent conflicts for some time.
