Partnership Between India and Nigerian Diasporas can positively Impact World-Abike

The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has said partnership between the India Diaspora and the Nigerian Diaspora can positively impact both countries and the world at large.

Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa who was Special Guest of Honour at the Indian Diaspora Day and World Hindu Day, also believes that India with a Diaspora population of 31 million across the globe, is no doubt good resource for partnership in medicine, Tourism, Information and Communication Technology, entrepreneurship, infrastructure among others. “A partnership between the India Diaspora and the Nigerian Diaspora can positively impact both countries and the world at large “, she said.

Meanwhile, the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria Mr Abhay Thakur said the oversee Indians are brand ambassadors of the country and have contributed to Socio-Economic stability and development of the country. Mr Thakur added that Indian Diaspora have been challenged to hit a $1.1 trillion mark of National Reserves in 2025. The High Commissioner also said Nigeria and India are shining examples of excellent bilateral relations, putting the Indian diaspora living in Nigeria at more than 50,000.

The National President, All India Universities Alumni Association Mr Robin Njoku enjoin Nigerians in the Diaspora to step up in flow of remittances to strengthen the economy as Oversee Indians are doing.

The Indian Diaspora Day is celebrated every January 9th to mark the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa in 1915.
