The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, and the Authority’s Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood, have received prestigious professional and traditional honours in recognition of their contributions to their respective fields.
Mrs Kuku was conferred with the Honorary Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) at the Institute’s Fellowship Investiture Ceremony held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Fellowship, regarded as the Institute’s highest membership distinction, recognises her professional accomplishments and contributions to banking, financial services and the aviation industry.
With an extensive career spanning the Bank of Montreal, Ernst & Young, Bank PHB and the aviation sector, the FAAN Managing Director is now entitled to use the professional designation Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB).
Similarly, Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood has been conferred with the traditional title of Barden Gabas of Mubi Emirate in Adamawa State.
The honour was bestowed under the authority of the Emir of Mubi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, CFR, in recognition of his leadership and service.
The traditional title, historically associated with bravery and valour, also places on its recipient the responsibility of contributing to peace, unity and development within the Mubi Emirate.
Reacting to the recognitions, FAAN management described the honours as a reflection of the professional competence, leadership qualities and commitment to service demonstrated by its senior executives.
The Authority noted that the achievements further underscore the contributions of its management to national development beyond the aviation sector.
The Management and Staff of FAAN congratulated Mrs Kuku and Capt. Mahmood on their respective honours, expressing confidence in their continued contributions to the development of the aviation industry and the nation.
