Nigeria’s WAES 2025 Gains Momentum as Ivorian President Receives Special Envoy

The Special Envoy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on West Africa Economic Summit (WAES), Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, was received by President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire on June 13, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan.
Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu delivered a formal letter of invitation from President Tinubu, inviting President Ouattara to participate in the inaugural West Africa Economic Summit scheduled for June 20-21, 2025, in Abuja.
WAES 2025 aims to launch a new chapter in regional economic cooperation, focusing on sustainable development, strategic integration, and a shared vision for West Africa’s economic sovereignty.
President Ouattara welcomed the initiative, noting its timeliness and significance in shaping the region’s future, and reaffirmed Côte d’Ivoire’s commitment to collaborative progress.
WAES 2025 Objectives is to explore ways to unlock trade and investment opportunities in the region.
It will focus on sustainable development, strategic integration, and economic sovereignty.
The summit will convene heads of state, business leaders, global investors, development partners, youth innovators, and entrepreneurs.
