TCN Refutes AEDC Claim of Transmission Fault on Lokoja Axis

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has refuted claims by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) linking the recent power outage in parts of Kogi State to a fault on its transmission network.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, TCN dismissed AEDC’s public notice of May 5, 2026, which attributed outages in Zango, Shetima, Apansede, Phase I, Phase II, Crown Estate, and neighbouring communities to a technical fault on the Lokoja transmission axis.
TCN stated unequivocally that all feeders at the Lokoja Transmission Substation supplying the affected areas are fully operational, with no recorded fault, outage, or scheduled maintenance on its infrastructure in the axis.
“As of the time of this statement, the transmission network in Lokoja remains stable, and bulk power is being delivered to AEDC at the required capacity for onward distribution to customers,” the company said.
The transmission firm therefore distanced itself from the disruption being experienced in the affected communities, rejecting any suggestion that its facilities were responsible.
While reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery, TCN urged sector stakeholders to verify information before making public attributions regarding power outages.
