Owan-Enoh steps down for Prince Otu as APC Candidate

It seems the internal wrangling over who is to represent the AllProgressives Congress, APC in the Cross River State Gubernatorial elections come2023 is being abated.

This is because one of the leading Aspirants of the Party, Sen. John Owan-Enoh has officially stepped down for Prince Bassey Otu who recently emerged as the consensus candidate of the APC.

He made this decision known on Thursday, May 19, 2022, while addressing his Campaign Organisation and other APC Stakeholders, including some Local Government Councillors.

Owan-Enoh, a former Senator representing Cross River State Central Senatorial District and 2019 Governorship Candidate said the supremacy of the Party is unchallenged at all times, and then urged his teeming supporters to throw their weight behind Sen. (Prince) Bassey Otu.

‘No matter how profound our vision is, no matter how brightly the light of hope burns in our hearts, as loyal party men and women, the supremacy of the party is sacrosanct at all times. And so, it is in full compliance and obedience to the decision of our party as well as your understanding that I suspend this campaign.

‘This suspension is with immediate effect. Although the decision was not an easy one especially when I take into consideration the overwhelming support my candidacy and aspiration enjoyed across the state, it is in human nature for every engagement no matter how productive, enriching and rewarding to come to this point.

I therefore implore you to throw your weight behind Sen Prince Bassey Otu, the choice of the Party.

Recall that Prince Otu was declared the consensus candidate of the APC for the Cross River State Governorship Elections in Abuja on Monday, May 9, 2022, in a meeting presided over by Governor Ben Ayade and attended by the stakeholders of the party.
