NTDA Union Chairman Concurs With Labour On Strike Postponement

Oru Leonard

Following the postponement of the planned strike action by organised Labour to protest the huge increase in the price of PMS across Nigeria, the Chairman of Amalgamated Union Of Public Cooperations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), Nigerian Tourism Development Authority chapter has hailed the decision as the right one.

Comrade Amos Yakubu commended the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress for sheathing their swords thereby allowing for collective bargaining with the Federal Government as a viable strategy for the amicable resolution of disputes.

Comrade Amos who is also a staff of the National Travel Bureau, NTDA made this known via a press release in Abuja observing that though the massive price increment of the product as a direct consequence of the removal of petro subsidy is a huge burden on Nigerians, the way forward is not to ground the economy but to negotiate with the government.

The Union leader advised the FG led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to put all necessary measures in place to cushion the effects of the hardship workers and indeed all Nigerians are currently facing.

He reaffirmed his solidarity with his senior comrades at the NLC and TUC admonishing all parties to work for the best interest of Nigeria as they reconvene on the 19th of June to discuss further issues, especially a decent living wage for Nigerian workers.
