NITDA DG Calls for Strategic Digital Infrastructure Development in Jigawa

The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, has called for a deliberate, strategic and sustainable approach to digital infrastructure development in Jigawa State.
Inuwa made the call while speaking at the Galaxy ITT Repositioning Retreat themed, “From Strategic Intent to a Phased, Bankable and Accountable Digital Infrastructural Platform for Jigawa State.”
The NITDA Director-General stressed that development cannot happen by accident, urging stakeholders in Jigawa to establish a clear roadmap outlining where the state intends to be in the coming years and the institutional and digital infrastructure required to achieve the vision.
According to him, strong policies, effective technology deployment and sustained investment are essential to positioning Jigawa for long-term economic growth and digital transformation.
He called for the repositioning of Galaxy Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITT) as a key driver of digital transformation in the state, with greater emphasis on rebuilding public trust, strengthening its workforce and promoting collaboration among government, startups, innovators and the private sector.
Inuwa also identified enabling policies and regulatory frameworks, digital skills development, emerging technologies, research, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure and innovation ecosystems as critical components for building a viable and sustainable digital economy.
He urged the state government to maximise its existing technology facilities and empower its young population to transform innovative ideas into products, services and businesses.
The NITDA boss further encouraged Jigawa to deliberately create technology-driven industries and new economic opportunities capable of reducing dependence on federal allocations.
He said the right strategy, sustained investment and strong institutional commitment could make technology a major pathway for job creation, innovation, economic diversification and long-term prosperity in the state.
The Director General emphasised that Jigawa’s digital future must be deliberately designed, coordinated and sustained beyond individual administrations, stressing the need for a lasting commitment to building a competitive, innovative and digitally empowered state.
