NYSC, JAMB Move to Strengthen Collaboration on Corps Members’ Services and Data Management

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have resolved to strengthen their collaboration, particularly in the areas of data management, corps members’ mobilisation and service delivery.
The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, stated this when he received the JAMB Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Segun Aina, who paid a visit to his office in Abuja.
Nafiu congratulated Aina on his appointment and expressed confidence that his experience as a former NYSC Corps Member who served with JAMB, coupled with his professional expertise, would contribute significantly to his success in office.
The NYSC boss described JAMB as a major partner in the Corps mobilisation process, noting that the examination body provides the Scheme with critical primary data required for the online registration of prospective Corps Members.
He commended JAMB for its support over the years, stressing that the two institutions had enjoyed seamless Application Programming Interface (API) data sharing.
“We thank the Management of JAMB for their support over the years. We believe so much in the credibility of JAMB, and we have enjoyed seamless API data sharing with JAMB,” Nafiu said.
In his remarks, the JAMB Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, called for deeper collaboration between the two organisations to optimise the services provided by Corps Members and enhance their overall service experience.
Aina said his own experience as a Corps Member had significantly influenced his career choices and helped prepare him for his current responsibility at JAMB.
He assured that JAMB would continue to maintain strict standards in handling requests for changes to candidates’ data, while allowing flexibility in genuinely peculiar cases arising from the NYSC mobilisation process.
According to him, such flexibility would not compromise the integrity and credibility of JAMB’s records.
The Registrar also disclosed that a new framework involving the NYSC, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and JAMB would soon be unveiled to make the process of effecting legitimate data changes more seamless.
Aina further requested the deployment of Corps Members to JAMB offices to serve as customer service representatives.
He explained that the initiative would enable the examination body to communicate more effectively with young people while creating opportunities for Corps Members to contribute meaningfully to JAMB’s service delivery.
“We want to speak directly to the young people, we want to speak the language of young people, and we need other young people to help us do it,” he said.
“We want to build an army of customer service representatives by using Corps Members,” the Registrar added.
The proposed collaboration is expected to further strengthen institutional cooperation between JAMB and NYSC while improving data management, customer service and the experience of young Nigerians interacting with both institutions.
