The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has pledged to take the telecommunications industry to new heights in 2025, building on its achievements in 2024. Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NCC, made this promise, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to innovation and transparency.

Maida reflected on the commission’s successes in 2024, including the effective implementation of the NIN-SIM linkage policy and the designation of NCC’s infrastructure as Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII). These achievements, he noted, have laid the groundwork for a secure digital economy and enhanced national security in the years to come.

To empower consumers, the NCC plans to release coverage maps based on real-world performance data, allowing users to make informed decisions about their mobile network operators. Maida assured that users will have access to actual performance data directly on the NCC website, eliminating the need for guesswork when choosing a network.

The commission’s focus on transparency and user enlightenment is expected to foster robust competition among operators, improve service delivery, and promote fairness throughout the industry’s value chain. As Maida aptly put it, “2025 is a year of optimism. With the foundations we laid in 2024, we are set to transform the telecom landscape.”
