NCC Boss Dr. Maida Urges Stakeholders to Collaborate on Sustainable Telecom Infrastructure

Dr. Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has emphasized the importance of collective effort in building resilient and sustainable telecommunication infrastructure. Speaking at a stakeholder engagement in Lagos, Maida called on stakeholders to leverage their expertise, resources, and innovative capabilities to achieve this goal.

The event, themed “Strengthening Partnership for Sustainable Telecommunication Infrastructure in the Unserved and Underserved Communities: Collaborating for Sustainable Growth,” aimed to bring together key industry stakeholders to share valuable insights and strategies for enhancing Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) interventions.

Maida highlighted the NCC’s commitment to providing universal access and universal service, aligning with national and global goals such as bridging the digital divide, promoting universal access, and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 and 9.

He emphasized the need for strengthened partnerships to ensure long-term viability in delivering connectivity to unserved and underserved populations. Maida also stressed the importance of a multistakeholder approach to explore innovative financing models, leverage emerging technologies, and promote policies that incentivize collaborative participation in connectivity projects.
