Macs Foundation Applauds Federal Government’s Launch of National Agribusiness Policy Mechanism (NAPM)

Macs Foundation heartily commends the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, for the launch of the National Agribusiness Policy Mechanism (NAPM), as reported by Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of The Vice President).

As gathered in the report, the NAPM is a bold and data-driven initiative designed to strengthen agricultural productivity, stabilise food prices, and drive inclusive economic growth. We are particularly impressed by the government’s commitment to aligning efforts across all tiers using real-time data analytics and fostering public-private partnerships. This shows a strategic shift toward evidence-based policy-making and efficient coordination.

The report also highlights the upcoming implementation of the Green Imperative Project (GIP), a $1.1 billion partnership between Nigeria and Brazil aimed at modernising 774 mid-sized farms across the country. Macs Foundation sees this as a significant milestone that will unlock employment opportunities, modern farming practices, and long-term sustainability in the sector.

We equally commend the President’s approval of ₦15 billion for proactive flood preparedness through NEMA, reinforcing the administration’s dedication to safeguarding food systems from climate-related shocks.

This comprehensive approach, as detailed in the report, demonstrates a visionary path toward food security and rural transformation. Macs Foundation stands ready to support and align with this policy to empower farmers, promote sustainable agriculture, and build a resilient food system for Nigeria.
