Enugu State Government Invests N30 Billion in Tourism Development

The Enugu State Government has committed a whopping N30 billion to develop the state’s tourism potential, with N13.8 billion approved for the first phase of the project. This investment aims to boost the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion and attract six million visitors by 2027.

Phase One Projects:

  • Longest Canopy Walkway in Africa: A state-of-the-art walkway that will offer breathtaking views and an immersive experience for visitors.
  • First Zipline in Nigeria: An adrenaline-pumping attraction that will thrill visitors and provide a unique perspective on the state’s natural beauty.
  • Tallest Cross in Africa: A monumental cross situated at Okpatu Hill, symbolizing faith and spirituality.
  • Enhanced Experience at Awhum Waterfall: A boardwalk and other attractions will be added to the majestic waterfall, making it a must-visit destination.

Future Plans:

  • Akwuke Beach/Atakkwu Waterpark: A recreational hub that will offer fun and relaxation for visitors.
  • Ovu Lake Golf and Resort: A world-class golf course and resort that will cater to golf enthusiasts and those seeking luxury accommodations.
  • Cable Car from Okpatu to Awhum: A scenic cable car ride that will offer stunning views of the state’s landscape.

Economic Impact:
