The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced urgent maintenance work at its 330/132/33kV Katampe Transmission Substation in Abuja, with some electricity feeders expected to be affected.

In a statement issued on Saturday, September 5, 2026, TCN said the maintenance became necessary to enable its technical crew to seal an oil leakage detected on one of the transformers at the substation.

According to the company, the exercise commenced at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to end by 7:00 p.m. today, Saturday, September 5, 2026.

TCN explained that some circuits would be impacted during the maintenance, resulting in the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) being unable to take electricity from some feeders serving its customers through the affected transformer.

The company appealed to electricity consumers in the affected areas to bear with the temporary interruption, stressing that the maintenance was necessary to address the transformer oil leakage and ensure the reliability of the transmission infrastructure.
“TCN apologises for any inconvenience this temporary interruption may cause electricity consumers in the affected areas,” the statement signed by the management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria said.
