Defence Minister Pledges Total Dedication to APC Campaign, Reaffirms Commitment to National Security

ABUJA, August 24, 2026 — The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, has pledged his total dedication to the strategic responsibilities assigned to him following his appointment as Secretary I of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.
General Musa expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the leadership of the APC for the confidence reposed in him, describing the appointment as a call to higher service.
The Minister assured the APC leadership, stakeholders and supporters across the country that he would discharge the responsibilities of his new role with diligence, administrative rigour and unwavering commitment towards achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
He, however, stressed that his constitutional responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting the lives and property of citizens remains absolute.
“National security remains our highest imperative,” Musa stated.
He added that ongoing military operations, strategic reforms and inter-agency collaborations within the defence sector would continue with renewed vigour.
“Our resolve to uphold the mandate of the Ministry of Defence, protect our people, and drive Mr. President’s vision for a safe and prosperous Nigeria remains firm and unshakeable,” he said.
General Musa also called on APC members and patriotic Nigerians to remain united in support of the administration, expressing confidence that the party would record success at the 2027 polls while continuing to deliver effective governance and security across the country.
