Women leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have commenced a nationwide mobilisation drive ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a call for stronger grassroots structures and increased participation of women in the political process.
The mobilisation was launched on Monday at the One-Day Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-Inaugural Summit, convened by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BATICC), Abuja.
The summit brought together APC women leaders and stakeholders from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, including government officials, wives of governors, political leaders, women groups and grassroots mobilisers.
The event, organised through the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, was themed “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity,” with the mobilisation message, “One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.”
Addressing the gathering, Senator Oluremi Tinubu urged APC women to return to their respective states and communities to communicate the policies and programmes of the administration and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
She also expressed support for women contesting elective positions and called for stronger coordination among women support groups within the party.
The First Lady highlighted economic and social interventions of the administration, including measures targeted at education, agriculture, social protection and empowerment, urging women stakeholders to take the message to communities.
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, was among the speakers at the summit.
She highlighted the Federal Government’s focus on human capital development, food security and women empowerment, stressing the importance of women in driving social and economic development.
Other prominent speakers included the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari; APC National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele; and other party leaders and women stakeholders.
Yari urged APC women to remain united and intensify grassroots engagement as the party prepares for the 2027 elections, while Alile called for clearly defined responsibilities, functional grassroots structures, regular engagement and measurable results.
As women target wider grassroots mobilisation, the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s Women Mobilisation Directorate has announced an ambitious target of mobilising 40 million women votes for President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election.
The directorate’s Director, Dr Betta Edu, said the mobilisation structure was being strengthened across communities nationwide, with ongoing grassroots and door-to-door engagements.
The summit therefore served both as an empowerment platform and as part of the APC’s preparations for its 2027 campaign activities, with participants pledging to strengthen women-led structures at state, local government and community levels.
The event comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with the Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for January 16, 2027.
