Continuity for Greater Success: Why Ibrahim Musa Gusau Merits a Second Term as NFF President
Oru Leonard
The transformation witnessed in Nigerian football under the leadership of Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), underscores the importance of visionary leadership, stability, and continuity. Since taking office, Gusau has pursued strategic reforms aimed at strengthening football governance, expanding grassroots development, enhancing the domestic league, and fostering stronger partnerships with FIFA, CAF, state football associations, and other key stakeholders.
His administration has prioritised building a sustainable future for Nigerian football through investments in infrastructure, improved football administration, capacity building, and youth development. Among the notable milestones is the development of modern training facilities and quality football pitches designed to support the growth of players, coaches, referees, and administrators across the country.
The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), under the leadership of General Chikelue Iloenyosi, shares this vision and has continued to work closely with the NFF to promote grassroots football, coaching education, talent identification, youth competitions, and effective football administration. This collaboration has strengthened football development in Anambra State while contributing to the broader objectives of the Federation.
Under Gusau’s leadership, the NFF has further strengthened its relationship with FIFA and CAF, creating greater opportunities for technical support, institutional capacity building, and sustainable football development. His inclusive leadership style has encouraged wider stakeholder participation and reinforced confidence in the administration of Nigerian football.
As the Federation prepares for another electoral cycle, many stakeholders believe that the gains recorded under Ibrahim Musa Gusau should be consolidated rather than interrupted. A second term would provide the continuity required to complete ongoing projects, deepen reforms, and position Nigerian football for greater achievements on the continental and global stages.
The progress made so far provides a solid foundation for the future. Sustaining that momentum through continuity offers Nigerian football the best opportunity to achieve lasting success.
Continuity for Progress.
Continuity for Football Development.
God bless the Nigeria Football Federation.
God bless Nigerian football.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
