APC Mourns National Secretary’s Mother, Alhaja Sidikat Basiru, at 92

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is in mourning following the death of Alhaja Sidikat Basiru, mother of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, Ph.D. She was 92.

In a press statement issued Sunday and signed by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, CON, the ruling party described the late matriarch as “a devout Muslim, a woman of virtue and compassion” whose life was defined by “faith, sacrifice, and selfless service.”

According to the APC, Alhaja Basiru was the foundation of a family built on “strong values of character, discipline, and the fear of Almighty Allah.” The party said her “wisdom and exemplary character, moral values and religious piety” are evident in Senator Basiru’s public service record and in the lives of her other accomplished children.

“Alhaja Basiru leaves behind a legacy that will remain evergreen in the hearts and minds of her children, and all who were privileged to be blessed by her love and generosity,” the statement read.

On behalf of National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the National Working Committee, party leaders, members and supporters, the APC extended its “deepest condolences” to Senator Basiru and the entire Basiru family.

The party concluded with prayers that “Almighty Allah (SWT), in His infinite mercy, forgives her shortcomings, accepts her righteous deeds, grants her eternal abode in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.”
