The Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria, H.E. Mr. Miah Md. Mainul Kabir, has called for stronger knowledge sharing and collaboration between Bangladesh and Nigeria to promote national development and strengthen bilateral relations.
Kabir made the call while delivering a public lecture as a guest speaker at the University of Abuja Auditorium on the theme, “Harnessing the Global Knowledge of Residents in Nigeria: Foreign Nationals, Knowledge Exchange and National Development.”
During his address, the High Commissioner highlighted Bangladesh’s socioeconomic development and emphasised the importance of sharing knowledge, skills and technology between the two countries.
He identified information and communication technology (ICT), education, trade, pharmaceuticals and agriculture as key sectors offering opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between Bangladesh and Nigeria.
The High Commissioner noted that greater collaboration in these areas could support capacity building, encourage innovation and contribute to sustainable national development.
Earlier, Kabir met with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, to explore opportunities for strengthening academic and institutional relations between the university and relevant institutions in Bangladesh.
Their discussions focused on potential collaboration in research, academic partnerships and educational exchange programmes aimed at promoting knowledge transfer and fostering closer ties between the two countries.
The engagement underscores the potential of international cooperation and the exchange of expertise in advancing education, research, technological development and economic growth in Nigeria.
