The Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, has declared that Nigeria’s security and national outlook are gradually improving under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attributing the progress to the administration’s sustained support for the Armed Forces.
Speaking with journalists on Thursday in Abuja shortly after the commissioning of the annex branch of Haam Legal Consult Services, the minister said the Tinubu administration remains fully committed to securing the country and strengthening national development.
According to him, the President has consistently provided support to the military, enhancing its operational capacity in the fight against insecurity across the country.
General Musa disclosed that the Nigerian military is also collaborating with the United States and other allied nations to combat emerging security threats, assuring citizens that the Armed Forces remain resolute in safeguarding lives and property.
He called on Nigerians to support security agencies by remaining vigilant, reporting suspicious movements, and refusing to aid criminal elements.
The minister noted that insecurity persists in some communities because criminals often receive support and protection from individuals within those areas.
“If all Nigerians decide today that there will be no more support for criminals, I can assure you that within one month, these security challenges would largely become things of the past,” he said.
On the nation’s political leadership, Musa stressed the need for credible and visionary leaders who are genuinely committed to Nigeria’s progress.
“We do not need criminal-minded individuals in leadership positions. We need leaders who genuinely have passion for this country and are committed to making the necessary changes Nigeria desires,” he stated.
He also urged citizens to actively participate in the democratic process and avoid ethnic, religious, and sentimental politics, warning against vote-selling and actions capable of undermining national development.
Commenting on the newly commissioned law firm, the Defence Minister commended the Principal Partner of Haam Legal Consult Services and his Special Assistant, Barrister Aliyu Anas, for contributing to nation-building through legal practice.
Musa emphasized the importance of justice, rule of law, and respect for human rights, saying no society or business environment can thrive where laws are disregarded.
“A community that is respected is a community that obeys the law and respects the rights of others. Without law and order, humanity cannot thrive,” he added.
Earlier, the Head of Chambers, Barrister Abdulsalam Ibrahim, thanked the minister and his entourage for attending the event and pledged that the firm would uphold fairness and justice in line with the ethics of the legal profession.
He said the firm would provide services in land and property agreements, legal advisory, election matters, contract reviews, real estate, Corporate Affairs Commission registration, and other legal services.
