Nigeria Congratulates Democratic Republic of Congo on 64th Independence Anniversary

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja has released a statement congratulating the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on its 64th Independence Anniversary. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended warm felicitations to her counterpart, Minister Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, on this historic milestone.
Nigeria celebrates the DRC’s independence anniversary, symbolizing the resilience, courage, and determination of the Congolese people in their pursuit of sovereignty, peace, and prosperity. The DRC’s rich cultural heritage, vast natural resources, and strategic role in advancing regional stability and economic integration in Central Africa were acknowledged.
The Nigerian government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with the DRC, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as:
Enhancing economic cooperation and investment opportunities and collaborating on regional security initiatives: Supporting sustainable development projects
Nigeria says it remains a steadfast partner in supporting the DRC’s efforts towards encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts, promoting democratic institutions and practices and fostering economic growth and development.
Nigeria calls for continued regional and international collaboration to address challenges facing the DRC, including security and humanitarian concerns. The efforts of the Congolese government in fostering national unity and development were commended.
