Nigeria and Switzerland Strengthen Bilateral Relations with 10th Round of Political Consultations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria hosted the 10th Round of Nigeria-Switzerland Political Consultations on June 25, 2025. The event brought together key officials from both countries to discuss matters of mutual interest.
This include: Enhancing economic cooperation and exploring new opportunities for growth; strengthening legal frameworks to facilitate collaboration on various issues; addressing regional and global security concerns; providing aid and support to those in need.
The consultations are part of a broader effort to deepen relations between Nigeria and Switzerland, building on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on March 8, 2016. This MoU established an annual process of bilateral consultations to foster cooperation on issues such as: Migration and Development, Peace and Security,
Asset Recovery and, Trade and Investment.
The two countries have enjoyed good bilateral relations, with Switzerland recognizing Nigeria’s strategic importance in West Africa. Switzerland has also provided humanitarian aid to Nigeria, particularly in the northeast region affected by the armed conflict.
