TDF Slams ADC Over Alleged 12-Month Unpaid Staff Salaries, Questions Leadership Capacity

The Democratic Front (TDF) has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of hypocrisy and insensitivity over its alleged failure to pay staff salaries for more than one year.
The group described the situation as contradictory, given the ADC’s persistent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the rising cost of living, hunger and poverty in the country.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, TDF said the party’s inability to meet its salary obligations exposed what it called its disregard for workers’ welfare.
The statement said it was ironic that a political party accusing the Federal Government of worsening economic hardship would allegedly subject its own employees to prolonged financial difficulties.
“We condemn the ADC for being hypocritical in crying more than the bereaved by exaggerating the narrative of hardship and poverty in Nigeria, while actively contributing to the rising national poverty index by refusing to pay staff salaries in the last year,” the group stated.
TDF argued that the alleged failure to pay workers demonstrated poor leadership and raised questions about the party’s capacity to manage the country’s economy if given the opportunity to govern.
It further warned that Nigerians could face greater challenges under an ADC-led administration, accusing the party of displaying an anti-worker disposition.
The group also linked what it described as the party’s poor attitude towards workers’ welfare to the past records of its leading figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National Chairman David Mark and National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola.
According to TDF, several of Atiku’s private business ventures reportedly collapsed amid allegations of irregular salary payments, while it accused David Mark of failing to adequately address salary arrears in states during his tenure as Senate President.
It also recalled the controversy surrounding the payment of half salaries to workers in Osun State during Aregbesola’s administration.
The group maintained that the records of the three political leaders raised concerns about their commitment to workers’ welfare and the broader interests of Nigerians.
TDF, however, praised President Tinubu’s administration, describing it as committed to economic reforms, development and poverty reduction through various intervention programmes.
It urged Nigerians to reject the ADC and its leadership, insisting that the party had not demonstrated the capacity to address the economic challenges facing the country.
The group also called on citizens to support the Tinubu administration’s poverty alleviation initiatives.
