NERC, NEMSA Deepen Collaboration to Boost Power Sector Safety, Efficiency

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has reaffirmed its commitment to closer institutional collaboration with the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), following a courtesy visit by the Agency aimed at strengthening operations within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
Speaking during the visit, NERC Chairman, Musiliu Oseni, welcomed the delegation and praised NEMSA’s pivotal role in enforcing technical standards and ensuring electrical safety across the country. He stressed that stronger synergy between regulatory and technical institutions is critical to advancing ongoing reforms in the power sector.
Oseni noted that effective collaboration between both agencies would enhance service delivery, reduce system losses, and protect critical electricity infrastructure nationwide.
In his response, Managing Director of NEMSA, Adesayo Olusegun Michael, expressed appreciation for the reception and commended NERC’s leadership in driving regulatory improvements within the sector. He reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to deepening cooperation, particularly in technical inspections, enforcement of safety standards, certification of electrical installations, and capacity development.
The NEMSA delegation also underscored the importance of improved data sharing and joint operations to ensure compliance with established regulations and technical codes, as both agencies seek to strengthen the efficiency and reliability of Nigeria’s electricity industry.
