ITAKPE- WARRI RAILWAY: Amaechi Commends CCECC/ BERGER; Agbor Station Named After Jonathan

The Minister of Transportation, Rt. Honourable Chibuike Amaechi has commended the
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), and Julius Berger on the standard of work done along the Itakpe- Warri axis of the standard gauge railway line construction.
Rt. Hon Amaechi made the commendation on Saturday, July 18, 2020 during a test-run of the new coaches on the completed Itakpe-Warri standard gauge rail line. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done on the line, stating that CCECC, Julius Berger and the Consultants (TEAM), have done well.
The Minister revealed that
President Muhammadu Buhari has named the Agbor railway facility and station on the Warri-Itakpe rail line after former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Agbor rail station is the largest station amongst other stations on the Itakpe-Warri standard gauge rail line.
According to him, “This is the Goodluck Jonathan Agbor Station which incorporates the railway facilities”.
He however he noted that the Station was not recently named. “It was named a long time ago after Goodluck Jonathan and the President approved it.
“Agbor station, the yard and the railway facilities were named after president Jonathan” as approved by the president, he said.
On management of the railway facilities, the minister stressed on the need for maintenance of the facilities.
“We will know if the Nigerian Railway Corporation has done a good job when they manage it properly because the issue is Maintenance. I don’t want to come here in the next four, five years and it looks worn out.
“I have seen the toilet facilities they look good but typical of us, I hope in the next five years it will be intact because in Kubwa now, those things look worn out, if you break anything, replace it or repair it.”
