Greece Donates One Million Doses Of COVID – 19 Vaccines To Nigeria

As the Federal Government of Nigeria, moves to ensure more citizens are vaccinated against COVID-19, Greece has joined the league of donors by donating about one million doses of the Johnson and Johnson, J&J, COVID-19 vaccine to the country
The country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikolaos Dendias, who led a delegation to his Nigeria counterpart, Geoffrey Onyeama, announced the donation of the vaccines in Abuja.
While making the announcement at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other Nigerian government officials Dendias said both Nigeria and Greece have enjoyed a favourable bond over the years and that his country was even willing to expand the relationship.
The Greek minister explained that such expansion would culminate in the signing of Memoranda of Understanding on various issues affecting both countries.
On his part, the Minister of foreign affairs, Onyeama, said Nigeria has enjoyed a smooth partnership with Greece especially in the area of defence.
He said the present administration is willing to expand its partnership with Greece, in areas such as agriculture and infrastructure.

Reports however say, six more people have died of complications related to COVID-19 while five hundred and thirty seven additional cases confirmed with the new reported infections in seven states and the FCT, Nigeria has now confirmed a total of two hundred and forty eight thousand, three hundred and twelve cases since it reported its first case in February 2020.
Out of the confirmed cases, two hundred and eighteen thousand, nine hundred and ninety seven who initially tested positive have been discharged and three thousand and seventy seven deaths had been recorded in all the thirty six states and the FCT.
The NCDC on its part, said it collected and tested a total of three million, eight hundred and sixty three thousand, and eighty one samples, but the country has twenty six thousand, two hundred and thirty eight active COVID-19 cases.
