DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu, Rtd: A Revered Leader Par Excellence.

In a move aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently appointed DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (Rtd) as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The announcement was received with great excitement across Nigeria; an appointment that can best be described as a round peg in a round hole.

 

DIG Argungu (Rtd), a seasoned lawyer, comes on board with wealth of experience and expertise to the commission having served in various positions within the police force, including Deputy Inspector General of Police, Department of Training and Development. His appointment remains a welcome development and a boost to the PSC based on his reputation for orderliness, transparency, accountability, and dedication to service. As a refined and no-nonsense former police officer who participated in several courses in Nigeria and overseas, he is well informed and equipped in the affairs and needs of the Nigeria Police Force.

The PSC under the chairmanship of DIG Argungu (Rtd) will certainly witness unprecedented reforms as a result of his determination to improve service delivery in the Nigeria Police Force by promoting transparency and accountability in the police. He has long swung into action. Recently, he successfully launched an innovative programme aimed at enhancing staff knowledge and efficiency, titled: The Arena of Knowledge. The programme promotes staff understanding and provides adequate skills pertinent to staff daily responsibilities through series of weekly lectures.

No doubt, the highly revered and competent PSC boss, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (Rtd) is equal to the task. He is well-positioned to lead the Police Service Commission in promoting excellence and accountability within the Nigeria Police Force through innovative programmes and policies. His appointment is a significant step by President Tinubu towards enhancing the effectiveness and credibility of the police force.
