CIVIL SOCIETY AWARDS DG NSCC FOR TOWERING ROLE AND KEEPING FAITH WITH SDGs

The Civil Society Advance Forum on Sustainable Development Goals has presented an award of Excellence to the Director General of the National Senior Citizens Centre, Dr Emem Omokaro.

The award is in recognition of her role in the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria and at the International arena.

Presenting the award in Abuja, the Convener, Civil Society Advance Forum on Sustainable Development Goals, Mrs. Caroline Usikpedo-Oliseowe said the award was bestowed on Dr Emem Omokaro for keeping faith specifically with Goal 17 of SDGs which bothers on partnerships and Goals 1, 2, 5 and 8 under her leadership as Director General of the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) within a short span of time.

The award is tagged “3DGs Partnership Award” for performance on partnerships, Eradicating Poverty and Hunger and Decent Jobs for Senior Citizens.

The Convener said it was also for her doggedness in the inclusion of Older Persons in the SDGs processes at the local, national and global conversations.

Receiving the award of excellence, Dr Emem Omokaro said coming from a Civil Society Organization, she received the award with utmost appreciation assuring that it will reinforce and strengthen her vision for the inclusion of Older Persons in all aspects of life.

The Civil Society Advance Forum on Sustainable Development (CAS2030) in Collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals OSSAP-SDGs), Delta state Directorate of the Sustainable Development Goals and other stakeholders recently had an Award Ceremony to recognize the work that individuals and organizations are doing in Nigeria for the achievement of the SDGs.

It also followed the Antecedents since the inception of the SDGs and saw that they are worthy of recognition.
