The Comptroller of Special Duties at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Headquarters, Abuja, Haniel Hadison, has commended the transformative leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, describing his reforms as a key driver of excellence across the Service, including its sporting successes.

Hadison made the remarks on Monday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja following the Nigeria Customs Service men’s volleyball team’s impressive 3-0 victory over UCEM Volleyball Club in the ongoing CGC Volleyball Premier League.

The Customs team delivered a commanding display, securing the win in straight sets of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-23 to strengthen their position among the leading contenders for the league title.

Reacting to the performance, Hadison said the players demonstrated the discipline, commitment, and professionalism that have become the hallmarks of the Service under Adeniyi’s leadership.
“The team showed remarkable resilience, competence, and determination throughout the match. Their performance reflects the culture of excellence being promoted by the Comptroller-General across the Nigeria Customs Service,” he said.

According to Hadison, the current leadership has inspired officers and personnel to embrace higher standards in their respective responsibilities, resulting in improved performance both operationally and in extracurricular engagements such as sports.
He noted that the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded significant progress in recent years through reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency, strengthening revenue generation, and boosting national security efforts.

“The Comptroller-General has repositioned the Service and elevated its reputation. Today, the Nigeria Customs Service stands as a modern institution that aligns with international standards and global best practices,” he stated.

Hadison also highlighted achievements in revenue collection, anti-smuggling operations, and institutional credibility, describing them as evidence of the positive impact of the ongoing reforms.
Expressing confidence in the future of the Service, he said Adeniyi’s leadership still holds immense potential for further growth and development.

“There is no doubt that more milestones will be achieved under his leadership. His vision continues to inspire progress within the Service and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he added.
As the CGC Volleyball Premier League continues, Hadison encouraged both the men’s and women’s Customs teams to remain focused and maintain their strong performances in pursuit of championship honours.

Describing the Comptroller-General as a strategic leader, he expressed optimism that both teams possess the quality, determination, and support necessary to compete successfully for the title.

“The players should remain committed and motivated. They have the full backing of the Comptroller-General and the management of the Nigeria Customs Service as they continue their campaign,” he said.

Following the convincing victory over UCEM VC, the Nigeria Customs Service teams will turn their attention to upcoming fixtures as they seek to sustain their momentum and challenge for top honours in the CGC Volleyball Premier League.
