Bangladesh, Nigeria Explore Broader Energy Cooperation at Gastech 2026

Bangladesh and Nigeria have discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, with particular attention to broader collaboration between the two countries.
The discussion took place on September 16, 2026, when Bangladesh’s Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, H.E. Mr. Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, met Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), H.E. Rt. Hon. (Obongemem) Ekperikpe Ekpo, in Bangkok.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of Gastech 2026, one of the major international gatherings focused on the global gas, LNG, energy and related sectors.
During the meeting, the two ministers exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and explored prospects for expanding energy cooperation between Bangladesh and Nigeria.
The engagement underscores the potential for stronger bilateral relations in the energy sector, particularly as both countries seek opportunities for cooperation and knowledge exchange in areas of shared interest.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the two sides to deepen high-level dialogue on energy and explore avenues for further engagement between Bangladesh and Nigeria.
