Nigeria’s Ambassador to Hungary, H.E. Abasi Braimah, has assured Nigerian students at the University of Pécs of the Embassy’s commitment to strengthening their welfare and providing greater support throughout their stay in Hungary.

Ambassador Braimah gave the assurance on Friday, October 30, 2026, when he received the newly elected executives of the Nigerian Students’ Union, University of Pécs, alongside other Embassy officials at the Nigerian Embassy in Budapest.

The visit provided an opportunity for the new student leadership to formally introduce themselves to the Embassy, discuss challenges confronting Nigerian students and explore areas of collaboration with the Nigerian diplomatic mission.

The University of Pécs, one of Hungary’s oldest higher institutions with a history spanning more than 200 years, currently hosts over 300 Nigerian students.

During the engagement, members of the students’ delegation highlighted issues affecting their welfare and academic experience, while seeking the Embassy’s intervention and support in addressing identified concerns.

Responding, Ambassador Braimah reaffirmed the Embassy’s readiness to assist Nigerian students and ensure they derive maximum benefits from their educational pursuits in Hungary.

He encouraged the student leaders to maintain open communication with the Embassy, contribute ideas and make constructive suggestions that could improve the welfare of Nigerian students.

The Ambassador also expressed appreciation for the delegation’s visit and disclosed that the Embassy would undertake a working visit to the University of Pécs to strengthen engagement with the institution and the Nigerian student community.

The proposed visit is expected to provide further opportunities for interaction, identify areas requiring diplomatic support and deepen cooperation between the Embassy and Nigerian students in Hungary.
