BANGLADESH HIGH COMMISSIONER TO NIGERIA, MR. MASUDUR RAHMAN, PRESENTS LETTER OF CREDENCE TO PMB

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria presented the Letter of Credence to the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari today Thursday 25 March at the State House in Abuja.

Due to COVID pandemic, the Ceremony of the Presentation of Letter of Credence was held in a shorter format. The Presidential Guard Army rolled out a Guard of Honour to Mr. Rahman, while national anthem of Nigeria and Bangladesh were played at the beginning and after the inspection of parade.

This was followed by the presentation of the Letter of Credence to the President of Nigeria. No bilateral talks were held separately as per the guidelines of the Ceremony. Instead, Nigerian President addressed the six envoys from Bangladesh, Australia, South Korea, Gambia, Slovakia and Guinea Bissau, expressing to deepen cooperation with the countries represented at the ceremony.

In his address, President Muhammadu Buhari described the challenges of COVID-19 embracing mankind and urged countries and international communities to foster deeper collaboration. He stressed on the international cooperation to promote peace and stability while fighting against terrorism, food insecurity, climate vulnerabilities, corruption, human trafficking, transnational crime and insurgency.

On the bilateral note, President Muhammadu Buhari mentioned that Nigeria maintains excellent and warm relations with each of the countries represented at the Ceremony. He urged the envoys to work together to deepen the bilateral ties to a new level as well as forging close cooperation in the multilateral aegis to fight the global challenges faced by mankind today.
