The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria, H.E. Mr. Miah Md. Mainul Kabir, has reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and institutional cooperation with Nigeria during a visit to the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Lagos.

The Bangladeshi envoy held discussions with Prof. Olufemi Otubanjo and other senior professors of the Institute on advancing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Nigeria through enhanced academic and policy collaboration.

A key focus of the meeting was the early conclusion of the pending Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies and the NIIA. The proposed agreement is expected to provide a framework for sustained policy dialogue, collaborative research, academic exchanges, and broader institutional cooperation between the two leading foreign policy and strategic research institutions.

The two sides underscored the importance of think tanks in supporting government policies, fostering mutual understanding, and generating practical solutions to shared regional and global challenges. They expressed optimism that formalizing the BIISS–NIIA partnership would further strengthen intellectual engagement and contribute to the growing diplomatic and economic relations between Bangladesh and Nigeria.

The meeting reflects the continued efforts by both countries to deepen cooperation beyond traditional diplomacy by promoting knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and stronger institutional linkages in support of their expanding bilateral partnership.
