The Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishment of Nigeria (APPMEN), has postponed its planned Obudu Cattle Ranch Resort APPMEN/Content Creators 2026 Two-Day Retreat, originally scheduled to hold from July 9 to 11 in Cross River State, citing prevailing security concerns in parts of the country.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the association said the decision followed a careful assessment of the security situation, stressing that the safety and well-being of its members, participants and stakeholders remained its highest priority.
APPMEN expressed solidarity with Nigerians affected by insecurity and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, stability and responsible media leadership.
The association announced that the retreat would now be replaced with The Aso APPMEN/Content Creators 2026 One-Day Conference, scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2026, in Abuja, with the APPMEN FCT Council serving as host.
The conference, themed “APPMEN: Voice, Vision, Purpose,” will feature the investiture of the Grand Patron,
Honorary National Patrons and The Nigeria We Want (TNWW) Ambassadors. It will also include National Recognition Awards for patriotic Nigerians who have made outstanding contributions to national development across various sectors of the economy.
According to the statement, the event will also provide a platform for strategic engagements between content creators and media owners on promoting responsible storytelling and shaping national narratives with vision and purpose.
APPMEN named Mr. Felix Onuah, FCT Council Coordinator, as Chairman of the Planning Committee, while Pastor Bossey Edward Idogho will serve as Secretary and Elder David Omoru as a committee member.
The association said the National Secretariat would coordinate and supervise the conference to ensure its successful hosting, adding that the newly appointed planning committee members had pledged their commitment to delivering a successful event.
Reaffirming its mission, APPMEN said it remains dedicated to strengthening the private media industry, amplifying responsible voices and driving narratives that contribute to national development.
The association also assured prospective participants that all previous registrations and partnerships secured for the postponed Obudu Retreat would be transferred to the Abuja conference. It added that details regarding the venue, accreditation and participation would be announced by the Planning Committee in due course.
APPMEN appealed for understanding over the postponement and invited media stakeholders, partners and content creators to participate in the Abuja conference as it seeks to advance a new agenda for patriotic communication.
