ANAMBRA 2021: INEC Chairman arrives Awka; Meets with Anambra Police Commissioner; REC was not attacked

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has arrived Akwa, the capital of Anambra State in readiness for the November 6 governorship election in the state.

A statement by the Commission said that the INEC boss immediately on arrival at the state capital went into consultation with the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng E. Echeng.

He also met with members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), Anambra State chapter, to discuss the security situation with regard to the governorship election taking place on Saturday 6th November, 2021.

He earlier landed at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu before proceeding to Anambra State.

The Commission also dismissed as fake news, speculations that the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Anambra State, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji had been murdered.
