Ikom LGA, CSD Microfinance Bank Partner to Boost Local Economy

The Executive Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Pst. Mercy Nsor, has welcomed a partnership proposal from CSD Microfinance Bank to boost the local economy through the Sustainable Programme on Economic Empowerment and Livelihood (SPELL) initiative. The partnership aims to inject over ₦1 billion into the local economy, create jobs, and empower local communities.

 

Speaking during the courtesy visit, the Executive Chairman warmly welcomed the team while applauding the initiative and partnership proposal, describing it as a stroke of good fortune for the local government. Hon. Mercy assured the team of the council’s readiness to collaborate fully by entering into a partnership, thereby ensuring everything necessary for success.

 

“Let me formally welcome you, Dr. Roy Ndoma Egba, and your entire team to my office. Indeed, the vision is a good one that will help drive the economy of Ikom LGA, promote agriculture, and boost our local economy. We’re open to collaborations and partnerships as the best is what I desire for my people.”

Earlier, Dr. Roy Ndoma Egba, the Chairman of CSD Microfinance Bank, expressed the Bank’s willingness to partner with the local government council to drive economic growth and development. He highlighted that CSD Microfinance Bank has been a major driver of the economy, with the ability to inject over ₦1 billion into the LGA economy.

The partnership is expected to help Ikom LGA become a major exporter and producer of crops such as Cassava, Soybeans, and other agricultural products including Cocoa, thereby creating jobs for the youths, generating revenue for the LGA, and empowering our local Communities.

Dr. Roy also noted that the initiative is designed to empower the youths and people of the local government with skills to make them independent and financially self-sufficient. “This development will enable our people to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the overall economic growth of the area”, he added.

 

With the Executive Chairman during the visit were the Director for General Services and Administration, Mr. Effiong Okon Owuna, the Secretary of Council, Hon. Edo Owan, the Director of Works, Mr. Ebri Ikpi, and the Chief Press Secretary, Engr. Ntem Chris.

 

The partnership is expected to yield significant benefits for the local communities, and the council has expressed commitment to driving economic growth and development in the area.
