2023: Stakeholders insist on Back to South in Cross River

Stakeholders of the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State in Nigeria made an unwavering commitment towards the return of the Governorship Seat to the South.

They made this known on Saturday, 12 March, 2022 in a Press Conference in Calabar, the State Capital. This came at the back of ‘agitations in some quarters’ to allow the elections open stressing that it was a matter of equity, fairness and justice for power to go back to the South.

Speaking on the topic, ‘Cross River State Governorship 2023: Our Commitment to Back to South Agenda’ Senator Florence Ita-Giwa said that having made careful deliberations on the issues, the stakeholders have decided to make their positions known.
She went on to thank His Excellency, Sen Prof Ben Ayade and his giant strides in decoupling the State from over dependence on Federal Allocation by industrializing the State. She also thanked the Governor for his commitment to return power to the South and stated that everyone is firmly in support of his leadership.

She in conclusion made a clarion call for everyone who loves Cross River State to fully support the initiative of the Governor and to move the state forward.

In attendance at the press conference were Chief Asuquo Ekpenyong, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, Chief Nya Asuquo, Chief Ogban Ebock, Chief Ogban Ekpei, Dr Emyl Inyang, Arch. Bassey Ndem, Rt. Hon. George O’ben-Etchi, Prof. Franca Bassey, Barr Offiong Mensah, among others.
