The Chairman of the Association of Catholics in politics and Captains of Industry, Prof Pat Utomi has commended the Chairman of Catholic Action, Sir Peter Agbontaen, KSJI for convening the first general assembly of Catholics in business and politics, and Catholic Agora, starting in Abuja from the 28th to the 29th of January 2022.

Utomi stated that the main objective of the gathering is to enlighten them on the need to use the social doctrine of the Catholic Church to focus on the common good. At the gathering, participants will listen to a high powered panel of discussants and a keynote speech by Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.

The Assembly will also celebrate the Emeritus Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan. He urged Catholics who are politicians and business leaders to endeavour to attend and participate in the General Assembly, pointing out that it will be profitable for networking and for learning how to improve the country, their Faith and the economy.

Prof. Utomi who is Chairman of the NCFront and Leader of the Shadow Cabinet of a Coalition of Political Parties and Civil Society, and is active as an academic, entrepreneur and politician said the gathering would advance the prospects for progress and peace in Nigeria.

He went on to felicitate with all Christians noting that the essence of the Christmas season is about light ignited by love, breaking up darkness. He submitted that the Conference will help participants find that fountain of light inside them to light other candles, especially as a candle loses nothing when it lights another candle.
