The President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Musa Nimrod, has applauded the unwavering support and commitment of the National Sports Commission (NSC), towards the advancement of volleyball in Nigeria, particularly through its partnership with the Volleyball Premier League.
Speaking on the enduring collaboration between the NSC and the NVBF, Nimrod revealed that the Commission stepped in to support the Premier League two years ago, a move he described as timely and impactful for the growth of the sport in the country. He noted that the partnership has continued to flourish, with this year marking the third consecutive season of support from the NSC.
According to the NVBF President, the intervention and backing of the NSC have played a vital role in strengthening the structure and competitiveness of the league. He explained that the support has not only enhanced the organization and smooth running of the competition but has also provided greater motivation for players, coaches, officials, and participating clubs nationwide.
Nimrod further emphasized that the Premier League has become an important platform for discovering and nurturing young talents, many of whom now have opportunities to compete at higher levels and represent Nigeria in continental and international competitions.
He added that the consistency of the league, aided by the NSC’s involvement, has contributed immensely to raising the profile of volleyball and improving the technical standards of the game across the country.
“The support of the NSC has brought stability and renewed confidence to the league. Their commitment has encouraged stakeholders and given athletes a stronger platform to excel. This collaboration is helping us build a more competitive volleyball structure in Nigeria,” Nimrod stated.
He also praised the leadership of the NSC for prioritizing sports development and creating an enabling environment for federations to thrive. He noted that such partnerships are critical to the long-term growth of sports in Nigeria and will continue to yield positive results for athletes and the nation as a whole.
The NVBF President reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to sustaining its productive relationship with the NSC and other key stakeholders in order to further develop volleyball at both grassroots and elite levels. He expressed optimism that with continued support and strategic collaboration, Nigerian volleyball would witness greater achievements in the coming years.
Nimrod also called on corporate organizations, private investors, and sports enthusiasts to support the growth of volleyball in Nigeria, stressing that collective efforts would help unlock the immense potential within the sport and create more opportunities for young athletes across the country.
