TCN Notifies of 8-Hour Power Outage in Kubwa, Bwari, Other Abuja Areas

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned maintenance exercise at its 132/33kV Kubwa Substation, which will result in an eight-hour power interruption in parts of Abuja on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
According to TCN, the maintenance will commence at 10:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m.
The company said its maintenance crew would use the exercise to replace a faulty 33kV NIPP feeder circuit breaker and a punctured yellow-phase current transformer with new units.
TCN explained that the maintenance would affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to take electricity supply to customers in Kubwa, Bwari, Army Resettlement, parts of Dutse Alhaji and adjoining areas during the period.
The company said the exercise was necessary to improve the reliability and safety of the transmission infrastructure serving the affected areas.
“Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to offtake electricity supply to customers in Kubwa, Bwari, Army Resettlement, parts of Dutse Alhaji and adjoining areas during the maintenance period,” TCN said.
TCN apologised to electricity customers in the affected communities for any inconvenience the planned maintenance may cause.
The notice was signed by the Management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
