Super Falcons Receive Presidential Rewards Ahead of WAFCON 2026 Defence

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has presented Nigeria’s Super Falcons with the full package of presidential rewards approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), ahead of the team’s title defence in Morocco.
The presentation was made on Monday, July 28, at the Super Falcons’ camp in Rabat, where NSC Chairman, Shehu Dikko, met with the players and officials to fulfil the President’s commitment before the commencement of the 2026 tournament.
A total of 24 players and 12 officials received title documents, including Certificates of Occupancy, for their fully paid three-bedroom homes in Abuja allocated by the Federal Government.
The team also received certificates confirming the conferment of the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), duly signed by President Tinubu, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
The NSC further disclosed that the cash component of the presidential reward—$100,000 in naira equivalent for each player and $50,000 in naira equivalent for each coach and technical official—has been approved and is being processed by the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
According to the Commission, the payments will be made directly into the beneficiaries’ accounts through the Central Bank of Nigeria.
As part of preparations for the ongoing WAFCON, the NSC also announced that all allowances and bonuses covering the entire tournament through to the final have been released to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for immediate payment to the players.
Dikko, while addressing the team, said the measures were consistent with the Commission’s Athlete First policy under the RHINSE initiative and the Renewed Hope and Shared Prosperity Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
He also unveiled a special performance-based motivation package designed to encourage the Super Falcons as they seek to retain their continental crown.
