SENATOR DECRIES INCESSANT KILLINGS IN THE SOUTH EAST ..says Killings cannot stop South East Presidency

The Senator representing Ebonyi Central senatorial district, Joseph Obinna Ogba has decried the incessant spate of killings going on in the South East especially Ebonyi state.

The Senator made this known in a motion sponsored by him on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, in Abuja.
According to the lawmaker, it’s of great concern that the issue of insecurity is really degenerating in the country and it has become necessary for the Federal government to do something about it saying no senatorial district in the state is free.

He noted that there have been constant attacks on different communities in his state by suspected herdsman and that there have been lingering communal crisis between Ezza-Effium and Effium people in Ohaukwu Local government area since January, 2021 which has resulted in so many deaths of innocent persons, destruction of properties worth millions of Naira and thousands rendered homeless and jobless.

The lawmaker also pointed out that some of these communal crisis are generated by individuals who goes about freely without being arrested or prosecuted.
“There is urgent need for intervention by the federal government to arrest these senseless killings, destruction of properties and other vices in order to save people from untold hardship associated with these menace.

The lawmaker also said that no tribe should hide under the guise of these insecurities to the deny the South East of its ambition of leading the country.
Senator Ogba said this while answering questions from journalists after the debate of his motion.

According to him, it is the turn of the South East and not even the insecurity challenges rocking the region can stop that ambition.
