The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has inaugurated a Planning Committee to coordinate arrangements for an Oil and Gas Investment Forum scheduled to hold in China later this year.

The committee was inaugurated at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, with the RMAFC Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, OFR, represented by the Federal Commissioner representing Anambra State and Chairman of the Investment Monitoring Committee, Hon. Ekene Enefe.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting, Shehu stressed the need for effective planning, coordination and collaboration among relevant institutions to ensure the success of the investment forum.

He said the forum would provide an opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s investment prospects across the oil and gas value chain and attract strategic investments into the country.

The RMAFC Chairman tasked the committee with developing a comprehensive framework for the event, identifying priority investment opportunities, coordinating stakeholder participation and facilitating engagements with prospective Chinese investors and business partners.

He explained that the forum would feature business-to-business meetings, investment matchmaking sessions, technical presentations and policy discussions aimed at fostering sustainable partnerships between Nigeria and China in the oil and gas sector.

Shehu reaffirmed RMAFC’s commitment to working with relevant government agencies and stakeholders, within its constitutional mandate, to promote initiatives that enhance investment, revenue generation and sustainable economic development.

The inauguration of the committee is expected to provide a coordinated framework for Nigeria’s participation in the international oil and gas investment market through the planned China forum.

Membership of the committee includes representatives of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority, Nigeria-China Business Council, as well as officials from RMAFC’s Gas and Investment Department.

The Federal Commissioner representing Kogi State, Hon. Abdulaziz Idris King, and other members of the Investment Monitoring Committee also attended the meeting.
