PANTAMI ADVOCATES BETTER STRATEGY FOR NIPOST, AS BOARD SETS 5 YEARS PLAN

The Honorable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami representedby Engr. Festus Daudu, Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Communications & Digital Economy has advocated for a robust strategy for NIPOST to play a major role in the socio-economy of the world.

The declaration was made at the opening of the one week long NIPOST Board /Management strategic retreat at Ilaje Hotels & Sports Resort, Akaran,Ibadan, Oyo State. He emphasized that e-commerce and e-services are the core business enterprises that are changing the face of postal industry, adding that the post plays a critical role in major economy world wide.

NIPOST, from this strategic retreat is expected to stir towards a four /five years strategic direction that will propel the organization to full commercialization, which will enable it surpass other revenue generating agencies.

Engr. Festus Daudu who represented the Honorable Minister of Communications & Digital Economy, Dr. Pantami at the opening ceremony further noted that strategic advocacy to succeed in an organization must be built on its human resources capacity to harness its productivity.

Barrister Maimuna Yaya Abubakar, Chairman NIPOST Governing Board, stressed that the retreat is aimed at repositioning NIPOST for better service delivery and adaptation to digital economy and to carve a strategic direction for the organization for the next cycle (2021-2025).The chairman, acknowledged that to provide a candid assessment of the organization it must be with a view to bequeathing to strategic direction that will translate into better performance, improved quality of service, employee’s satisfaction and increased positive public image.

Accordingto the Postmaster General/CEO, Nigerian Postal Service, Dr Ismail Abebayo Adewusi in his welcome address believed that this Board /Management Strategic Retreat is to outline the future direction of our organization.Dr Adewusi, stated that the success of NIPOST Vision plan depend largely on our quality of service, However serious measures have been taken to ensure provision of quality service in line with global best practices. ‘’ To achieve this objective, the following measures have been introduced; prompt evacuation of all in-bound and out-bound mails at our International Mail Processing Centre at Ikeja, Increase frequency of mail movement and provision of new generating set at IMPC to ensure uninterrupted mail operation’’.He concluded that full training and re-retraining of our workforce to improve human capacity building has been put in place.
