Tinubu’s Message of Peace Offers Renewed Hope for North-Central — Tsoken

MAKURDI — The North-Central Peace Summit held in Makurdi, Benue State, has been described as a significant step towards finding lasting solutions to the security challenges confronting the region.
The National Coordinator of Asiwaju Again Renewed Hope Support Initiative 2027 and National President of the APC Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG), Amb. Musa Muhammed Tsoken, said the summit provided renewed hope for peace, security and development across the North-Central.
Tsoken, in a statement, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s message to the summit, delivered by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. Dr. George Akume, CON, underscored the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting lives and property and restoring peace across the region.
According to him, President Tinubu expressed deep concern over the security situation in Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, Kwara and the Federal Capital Territory.
The President, as conveyed by Akume, said no Nigerian should live in fear in his or her own land, stressing that security remained a fundamental right of every citizen under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He said the President had directed security agencies to strengthen collaboration, deploy modern technology and intelligence, and intensify efforts against banditry, communal clashes and farmer-herder conflicts.
“Peace is the foundation for development. Without peace, our farms will remain empty, our markets will not thrive, and our children cannot go to school,” the President stated.
He further charged the summit to produce actionable solutions capable of addressing the root causes of insecurity in the region.
The President also pledged Federal Government support for peace initiatives, stronger traditional institutions and improved security architecture, with the ultimate objective of restoring the North-Central’s position as Nigeria’s food basket and a centre of national unity.
Tsoken commended Akume for effectively representing the President at the summit, describing the SGF as a “true son of the soil” with extensive knowledge of the security and socio-economic dynamics of the North-Central.
He noted that Akume’s experience as a former governor of Benue State, former senator and former minister positioned him to contribute meaningfully to efforts aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence in the region.
According to Tsoken, the North-Central has for years faced challenges arising from farmer-herder conflicts, banditry and communal crises, making sustained collaboration among governments, traditional institutions, security agencies and communities imperative.
He also highlighted community policing, forest guards, modern surveillance technology, improved welfare for security personnel and dialogue with stakeholders as key elements of the administration’s approach to tackling insecurity.
The APC-IGG and Asiwaju Again Renewed Hope Support Initiative 2027, he said, commended President Tinubu for what it described as proactive leadership and praised Akume for his role in coordinating the implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tsoken expressed optimism that the outcomes of the Makurdi summit would translate into concrete measures capable of restoring peace, rebuilding confidence and accelerating development across the North-Central region.
