NUJ SUPPORTS LABOUR ON WITHDRAWAL OF SERVICE

The Nigerian Union of Journalists has expressed support on the planned  ‘withdrawal of service’ by the Nigerian Labour Congress from Wednesday, June 7, 2023 in protest against subsidy removal by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

In a press release signed by the National Secretary, Shuaibu Usma_ Leman, the decision was taken following an online meeting on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

According to the release, “CWC reiterates the argument that although the removal of fuel subsidy will free allocations which can be channeled to the provisions of infrastructure ‘and creation of additional jobs, the sudden removal could however lead to social unrests and protests as people may perceive Government as being insensitive to their plight.”
