NSCDC collaborates with international foundations to tackle security threats

Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has said that the prevailing asymmetric warfare be devilling the nation requires an octopus’ solution in mitigating the myriads of security threats targeted at Nigerians, Residents and Public assets.
The Commandant General made the statement during a Two-Day Seminar on “Promoting Interagency Collaboration for Heads of Security Agencies” held at Fraser Suites Hotel, Abuja, between 4th and 5th December.
Participants of the two-day seminar were drawn from a few states across Nigeria, such as Anambra, Borno, Enugu, Imo and Sokoto state.
The NSCDC Boss said that the reality calls for a continuous evaluation of security strategies that can pull resources and expertise together in tackling this menace.
The seminar organised for heads of security is aimed at ensuring seamless synergy among security stakeholders in Nigeria.
“It is my delight to observe the presence of state security heads drawn from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Nigerian Correctional Service
“Also, Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Customs Service and State Security Service representing Anambra, Borno, Enugu, Imo, and Sokoto States.
“Consequently, this seminar is aimed at ensuring that all stakeholders across the border carried along on this mission to impact positively on the nation’s security architecture.
“The previously held seminars and workshops were targeted at three geopolitical zones namely: North East, North West and South South.
“I officially sent a request last year to our partner, Konrad Adenaeur Stiftung, for the activation of other zones in the face of the increasing security challenges across the country and the need for all agencies to work together across the board.
“The request was graciously approved resulting in the incorporation of the North Central geopolitical zone in this program and strongly believe that other zones will come on board in due course.
“Between 9th and 10th November, 2023, a similar intervention program was held for selected states of the South West and South-South bringing the total number of states that have benefited from the seminar this year to twenty-three (23).
“Let me extend my hands of gratitude to our partner, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) for their belief in Nigeria by ensuring the implementation of this programme and other activities for the collective benefit of Nigerians and residents.
“I thank Ms Marija Peran, the Resident Representative in Nigeria and the KAS team for their usual support and the continuous nurturing of the existing partnership between the NSCDC and KAS.
“To all the participants in attendance, thank you for availing yourselves to learning and sharing, I implore all of you to make the best use of this moment towards actualizing the objectives of this seminar,” The commandant General said.
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is a German Political Foundation, a nongovernmental organization and part of the official German international cooperation system, fully funded by the German Government.
KAS was established in 2001 in Nigeria and has 113 offices worldwide and its mandate is to promote democratic, good governance and the rule of law, to foster good relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and Nigeria.
The project’s goal is to create a unified curriculum and a trainer’s guide. The development of this curriculum has been completed and endorsed by all the training colleges and institutions.
