NiNAS to validate NNQP

The Nigerian National Accreditation Service (NiNAS), on Monday November 4, 2019, held a workshop at Abuja, to validate the Nigeria National Quality Policy (NNQP).

In his remark, the Director General of NiNAS, Mr Celestine Okanya noted that the quality policy has passed through a lot of tinkering in the past six years, 2013 to date.

He thanked the donors, board members and other stakeholders who worked day and night to realize the document which was being re-validated.

He noted that sacrifices were made by some stakeholders at great costs and some international bodies like USAID.

The workshop which was well attended by various stakeholders in the Quality Infrastructure and donor agencies had stakeholders including representatives of the Minister of Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI), Organized Private Sector (OPS), Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, & Agriculture (NACCIMA), National Association of Small and Medium Enterprise (NASME), National Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Nigeria Quality Infrastructure Forum (NQiF).

Others present were representatives of Departments of Weights and Measure FMITI, Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services (NAQS) , Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), National Agency for Food & Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Nigeria Environmental Standards Regulatory Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Nigeria National Accreditation Service (NiNAS), Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), Department of Trade FMITI among other participants.

The aim of the workshop was for the validation of the draft copy of the updated National Quality Policy for subsequent action by the Federal Government of Nigeria. This is step in the right direction for the Nigeria Quality Infrastructure especially with the signing of the Continental Free Trade Agreement.

NiNAS offers immense advantages to organisations or institutions, ranging from International recognition to consumer confidence on products and services in Nigeria.

In-house meeting will be held on November 6, by the strategic partners (NiNAS, FMITI and SON), to work towards getting the policy approved.
