Nigerian Students to Enjoy Scholarship in Bangladesh

Education has the power to uplift a country and establish a healthy, efficient economy. It has also played a pivotal role in the increase of productivity and wages amongst workers and proved to be a successful endeavor for investors. Fortunately, there is much more potential within education to help the world to flourish.

The Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria, HE. Masudur Rahman made this known at a courtesy visit along with NBBTF members on the Minister of Education in regards to Preparatory to departure of the Bangladesh Trade Mission on Friday in Abuja

Rahman explained that the purpose of the visit is to seek collaboration with the Ministry in the aspect of formal and non formal education, vocational and technical education and open or distance learning.

Rahman disclosed that a lot of courtesy visit has been made to necessary stakeholders and organizations to make the Nigeria-Bangladesh trade mission a success

He proposed that he is going to initiate a government-government scholarship to Nigeria students in Bangladesh and that soon Bangladesh students will start coming to Nigeria to study.

Speaking also, the President Nigeria-Bangladesh Business and Technology Forum(NBBTF),Arc. Bob Achanya noted that there is need for Nigeria to diversify her economy
“The Federal Government is implementing the national development plan 2021-2025 the plan would help Nigeria achieve robust development in the science and technology sectors”, he added

He added that the federal ministry of foreign affairs suggested to them that vocational and technical education should be considered into trade mission agenda in Bangladesh.

Achanya disclosed that the idea of the trade mission is to see how Nigeria can develop its skills and upscale in order to industrialize her skills in the country.

Quoting the adage which says ‘show me your friend and I will tell you who you are,’ the president assures that Nigeria stands to gain a lot
” Bangladesh economy is doing about 7.5-8.5 averagely and Nigeria is not doing that pretty well so engaging with Bangladesh will give us the opportunity to learn and improve our GDP and that’s a win-win for us”

He added that the Nigeria- Bangladesh trade mission is a government and public sector mission that is going to Bangladesh to explore opportunities
“We want to open Nigeria economy to them,see how we can pitch with their own business and government and then bring them back to Nigeria at the end of the day it will be a win-win”

Reacting, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr Andrew David Adejoh appreciated the honourable minister of foreign affairs for the initiative and applauded the Nigeria-Bangladesh Business Forum for the focus on vocational and technical education.

“This partnership is an opportunity for Nigeria to expand what we have been doing from formal to non formal education”

Adejoh assures that the Ministry is ever ready for collaboration especially one that assures a win-win for both nations

He also assured that the Ministry will send representative to Bangladesh to attend the trade .
